Heritage Open Days: Port Museum Presents the Rethe Bridge

On 12 and 13 September 2026, from 10 am to 6 pm, the German Port Museum is taking part in Germany’s Heritage Open Days. A display about the Rethe Bridge opens at Shed 50A under the title “Brücke in Sicht”.

The museum focuses on the relationship between transport routes and port operations. The accompanying programme includes tours of its open storage collection. Sunday also features tours about the historic 50-series sheds and the Rethe Bridge, for which registration is required. Times and booking details are listed in the museum programme linked below.

Existing venue and planned new museum

The event takes place at the existing museum site at Australiastraße, Shed 50A, 20457 Hamburg. The planned new museum on Grasbrook is a separate project. According to SHMH’s plans, the collection in the historic sheds will remain as a second location.

The current event programme states that museum admission applies. Standard admission is €7, concessions €4; admission is free for visitors under 18. Activities are in German.

Getting there: Bus 256 to Hafenmuseum. SHMH lists connections via Veddel and, at weekends, Elbbrücken. Check current HVV departure times before travelling.
